Founded in 1887 and incorporated in 1904, The City of Fullerton was named after George H. Fullerton, the Sana Fe Railway agent who routed the railroad through the city. City of Fullerton covers 22.3 square miles of area approximately 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles . City of Fullerton is a “general law” city which derives its powers from acts of the state Legislature and is governed by a “Council-Manager”. Population center boasts approximately 140,131 residents. Fullerton’s climate is a warm-summer Mediterranean climate with annual rainfall of approximately 13.88 inches and highs in the 100’s and lows in the 40’s and a mean temperature of 62.2. City of Fullerton has more than 50 city parks, a museum, cultural center two libraries, two golf courses, two sport complexes, golf driving range, three community centers, two regional parks, a skateboard park and equestrian park with 29 miles of trails and approximately 200 acres of recreational land, and is home to 5 universities & colleges for upper education, one of which is Cal State University of Fullerton.
