Are you going to finance a new home? Re/Max Masters Realty can help.

When buying a home, applying for the loan is troublesome for a lot of people, but it doesn't have to be. I've got great connections to various lending companies and they've helped me realize some things that will make the process of applying for a loan pretty simple.

1 – Make a list of questions regarding your loan program

If you do not fully understand the pros and cons of all the different loan programs, be sure you have a list of questions with you. At times, it can be hard to understand the distinctions between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lender contacts will be able to assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both.

2 – Decide when you want to lock

When you lock in a rate, a mortgage lender is guaranteed to commit to the interest rates for the loan – often at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between application and at the time of closing. Buyers who opt to float presume the interest rates will plunge in the near future. 3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to lower your interest rate

Generally you can elect to pay additional points to lower the interest rate of your loan. Every point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan and is payable in cash at closing. If you're unsure if buying points is the best option for you, click here to use our points calculator.

4 – Compile your paperwork

Getting a mortgage loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documents together. Click here to see typical information that goes on a loan application.
